2026 Face Oil Ranking — Best Single-Ingredient Oils for Skincare
Face oil can be a simple, highly effective part of your skincare routine, but only if you know exactly what is in the bottle. In this category, it is not just the name of the oil that matters, but also how the raw material was obtained, the degree of processing, freshness, packaging, and whether the product is suitable for daily use on the face.
The ranking includes single-ingredient plant oils used as leave-on products, meaning they remain on the skin. We did not consider oil blends, makeup remover oils, cleansing products, or essential oils. We assessed the products based on raw material quality, ease of use, protection of the oil in the packaging, transparency of information, and value for money.
Methodology — how did we assess face oils?
Only single-ingredient plant oils intended for skin or facial care made it into the ranking. We excluded makeup remover oils, oil blends, cleansing products, and essential oils. In addition to the main table, we also discussed jojoba and squalane.
Single-ingredient products were considered a prerequisite for entering the ranking. We assessed the products in five areas, which together gave a maximum of 100 points. If the data were incomplete or difficult to verify, the product received fewer points.
Raw material quality and extraction method (max 30 pts)
We assessed the characteristics of the raw material itself and the production process, rather than the overall completeness of the product page. Points were awarded for: cold pressing or an appropriate extraction method for the given raw material (8 pts), no refining process or minimal processing (7 pts), certified or organic raw material (6 pts), the stated country or source of origin of the raw material (4 pts), a clearly described INCI ingredient with the plant-based raw material (3 pts), and the cosmetic purpose of the raw material (2 pts).
Suitability for facial care (max 25 pts)
We assessed the practical use of the product in a daily facial care routine. Points were awarded for: versatility for different skin types (7 pts), lightness and ease of use (6 pts), no significant usage restrictions, such as a strong scent, distinct color, skin staining, or risk of clogging (5 pts), ease of incorporating into a daily skincare routine (4 pts), and a clear indication of use on the face or skin (3 pts).
Packaging and oil protection (max 15 pts)
We considered whether the packaging helps protect the oil from light, air, and unhygienic dispensing. Points were awarded for: dark glass or other protection from light (5 pts), a dropper, pump, spray, or precise dispenser (4 pts), airtightness and ease of dispensing (3 pts), a size suited to the rate of oil consumption after opening (2 pts), and practicality of storage (1 pt).
Transparency and reliability of data (max 15 pts)
This category did not duplicate the raw material quality assessment. We checked whether users can easily verify the most important information and whether the manufacturer communicates about the product honestly. Points were awarded for: a clear, consistent product page (4 pts), a description of how to use and the product's purpose (3 pts), information on storage, shelf life, or PAO (period after opening) (3 pts), indication of the product's natural limitations, e.g., scent, color, sediment, or the possibility of staining the skin (3 pts), and cautious, cosmetic claims without exaggerated medical promises (2 pts).
Price per 10 ml (max 15 pts)
The price was calculated per 10 ml of product. This criterion shows the purchase cost and volume value, not the full value of the raw material itself.
Points were awarded according to the following scale: up to PLN 6/10 ml — 15 pts, PLN 6.01–9/10 ml — 12 pts, PLN 9.01–15/10 ml — 8 pts, PLN 15.01–30/10 ml — 5 pts, above PLN 30/10 ml — 2 pts.
More expensive raw materials, such as prickly pear seed oil, could still receive a high score in other categories if they had good quality, transparent data, and practical use in skincare. Price therefore did not decide the ranking position on its own, but influenced the assessment of the product's value for money.
The ranking order was determined by the total number of points. In the event of a tie, we ranked the product with the lower price per 10 ml higher. Product data and prices were verified on June 30, 2026.
Face Oil Ranking 2026
🥇 1st place — Ministerstwo Dobrego Mydła Raspberry Seed Oil 30 ml
85 / 100 pts
Ministerstwo Dobrego Mydła Raspberry Seed Oil wins the ranking thanks to very good transparency and excellent packaging. The manufacturer clearly states the composition, volume, country of origin, packaging, method of use, and purpose of the product.
It is a light, unrefined oil for facial care. In the ranking, it stands out with its glass bottle with a pump, convenient dispensing, and very good product page. It is not as cheap as Etja hemp or argan oil, but it makes up for it with transparent data, ease of use, and practical application.
The biggest limitation is the price — not very high, but clearly higher than that of cheaper base oils. Despite this, the product performs best in the entire lineup because it makes up for it with the quality of its description, packaging, and ease of use.
🥈 2nd place — Etja Organic Argan Oil 50 ml
84 / 100 pts
Etja Organic Argan Oil has very strong quality parameters. It is single-ingredient, unrefined, cold-pressed, and based on raw material from organic farming. At this price, it is one of the strongest products in the ranking.
Argan oil is richer than many light face oils. For dry, mature skin requiring nourishment, it can be a very good choice, but for combination, oily, or easily clogged skin, it requires more careful dispensing.
It is a strong classic oil for dry skin, the body, hair, nails, and cuticles. It does not win the ranking mainly because it is less universal than lighter oils and has a less detailed product page than the leader of the lineup.
🥉 3rd place — Mohani Organic Hemp Oil 100 ml
83 / 100 pts
Mohani Organic Hemp Oil is one of the best products in the ranking in terms of price. It has a simple composition, is organic, unrefined, cold-pressed, and free from fragrance substances.
Hemp oil has a greenish color and a characteristic natural scent. For some people, this will be confirmation of a less processed raw material, but for others it may be a usage restriction, especially when applying it in the morning or under makeup.
The product has very good quality data, a large volume, and an excellent value for money. However, it is not as comfortably universal as neutral emollients or lighter oils, which is why it takes third place despite its high score.
4th place — LabioSkin Organic Tamanu Oil 50 ml
82 / 100 pts
LabioSkin Organic Tamanu Oil is a high-quality but more specialized product. It is cold-pressed, unrefined, and comes from certified organic farming. It also has very good dark glass packaging with a spray pump.
A big plus is the transparency regarding storage. The manufacturer states that after opening, the oil should be stored in refrigerated conditions, and cloudiness, thickening, or sediment may be a natural phenomenon. This is important for unrefined oils, as it helps the user distinguish natural product characteristics from signs of quality deterioration.
The lower position is mainly due to less universality. Tamanu oil has an intense scent and a more specific care profile. It is not a product “for everyone,” but it can be a good choice for people looking for an oil for combination, oily, or problematic skin.
5th place — Your Natural Side 100% Rosehip Oil 50 ml
76 / 100 pts
Your Natural Side 100% Rosehip Oil is, in practice, rosehip seed oil, not rose essential oil. It has a simple composition, is unrefined, cold-pressed, states the country of origin, and is available in a glass bottle with a dropper.
The product page is very transparent. The manufacturer states the composition, country of origin, form of the oil, storage conditions, shelf life, and information that the oil may gently stain the skin. This is important because the color of rosehip seed oil can matter for fair skin, white bed linen, or morning application.
The product loses points mainly due to less universality. It is interesting for skincare, but more specific than argan, raspberry, or hemp oils.
6th place — Mohani Prickly Pear Seed Oil 30 ml
75 / 100 pts
Mohani Prickly Pear Seed Oil is the strongest premium product in the lineup in terms of raw material. It has very good quality data: it is organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, and single-ingredient. It is one of the most luxurious oils in the ranking.
The product also performs well in terms of ease of use. The manufacturer describes it as light, silky, and fast-absorbing, although it is an oil intended mainly for demanding, dry, and mature skin.
The biggest limitation is the price. When calculated per 10 ml, it costs significantly more than the other products in the lineup, so it loses many points in the value for money category. It is still a very good oil, but it is not the best choice for people looking for the best possible value for money.
7th place — Mokosh Argan Oil 100 ml
72 / 100 pts
Mokosh Argan Oil is a product with a simple composition and a large volume of 100 ml. It can be used on the face, body, hair, and nails, so it has a wide range of skincare applications.
However, it loses to Etja Organic Argan Oil in the ranking. The main reason is a lower score for the extraction method and value for money. The product is described as deodorized, which can be a usage plus for people sensitive to scent, but in the ranking of natural oils, it lowers the score compared to the unrefined version.
8th place — Nacomi Inca Inchi Oil with Dropper 50 ml
60 / 100 pts
Nacomi Inca Inchi Oil closes the ranking, although the composition itself is good: it is a single-ingredient product, 100% Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil. The pluses are the dropper, use on the face, body, and hair, and the light consistency.
The product loses points mainly due to less transparency on the official product page. It is harder to confirm elements such as the country of origin, certification, cold pressing, or the use of unrefined raw material. In the ranking of single-ingredient oils, this information is very important.
We did not award partial points for data that cannot be clearly confirmed. Therefore, in the raw material quality category, the product receives points only for its clearly described composition and cosmetic purpose.

Ranking summary
The best face oil in this selection is Ministerstwo Dobrego Mydła Raspberry Seed Oil, because it best combines raw material quality, data transparency, convenient packaging, and practical use in skincare.
Second place goes to Etja Organic Argan Oil, which stands out for its very good raw material quality, organic status, cold pressing, lack of refining, and favorable price. Third place goes to Mohani Organic Hemp Oil — a strong choice for people looking for a simple organic oil in a larger volume and at a very good price.
The most specialized product in the top list is LabioSkin Organic Tamanu Oil, and the best premium choice remains Mohani Prickly Pear Oil, although its high price significantly lowers its score in the value category.
General recommendation: if you want to choose the best described and convenient face oil — Ministerstwo Dobrego Mydła Raspberry Seed Oil. Outside the ranking: jojoba and squalane — why are they worth knowing?
In the main ranking, we evaluated only classic, single-ingredient plant oils. Therefore, we did not include two very popular skincare ingredients in the scoring: jojoba and squalane.
This does not mean that they are less valuable. On the contrary — both can be a great choice for the face, but they are not classic plant oils in the strict sense.
Jojoba is commonly called an oil, but technically it is a liquid wax. However, in skincare, it behaves like a light emollient, so it often works well for combination, normal, and easily burdened skin.
Squalane is also not a plant oil, but a light lipid emollient. It is fragrance-free, stable, and very comfortable to use, so it can be a good choice for people who do not like the heavy film typical of some oils.
If you care about a very light, simple product for daily facial care, jojoba and squalane are worth considering — we simply evaluated them outside the main table so that the plant oil ranking remained methodologically consistent.
What are face oils?
Face oils are most often plant oils used on the skin to soften, smooth, and reduce the feeling of dryness. Unlike creams, they do not contain a water phase, so it is best to apply them to slightly damp skin, hydrosol, toner, or moisturizing serum.
In this ranking, we evaluated single-ingredient products. This means that each product had a simple composition based on one raw material, e.g., argan, hemp, prickly pear, tamanu, rosehip seeds, raspberry seeds, or Inca Inchi.
We did not evaluate makeup remover oils. This is a separate category, because such products usually contain emulsifiers and are meant to be rinsed off with water. We also did not evaluate essential oils, because they are not the same as facial skincare oils.
How to choose the best face oil?
- Check the INCI: The simplest choice is a product with one ingredient, without a fragrance composition and without essential oils.
- Pay attention to the extraction method: Cold pressing and the use of unrefined raw material are important, as they indicate a lower degree of processing.
- Match the oil to your skin: Argan and prickly pear are more nourishing, hemp and tamanu oils have a more distinctive profile, and raspberry and rosehip seed oils are interesting options for facial care if you tolerate plant oils well.
- Look at the packaging: A dropper, pump, atomizer, and dark glass make hygienic dispensing and better product protection easier.
- Do not rely on price alone: A cheaper oil can be a very good choice if it has a transparent composition and good raw material quality. A more expensive product should, on the other hand, offer something more than just the name of the raw material: quality, transparency, packaging, or special skincare benefits.
Which oil for which skin?
- Dry skin: argan, prickly pear, raspberry seed oil.
- Mature skin: argan, prickly pear, raspberry seed oil, rosehip seed oil.
- Combination skin: raspberry seed oil, hemp oil, tamanu with caution.
- Problematic skin: hemp oil, tamanu — preferably with caution and in small amounts.
- Sensitive skin: choose products without fragrance compositions and essential oils, starting with a small amount.
- Easily burdened skin: use a minimal amount of oil or consider jojoba or squalane from the section outside the ranking.
These are not medical rules, but practical skincare tips. The skin's reaction to oils is individual, so for reactive skin, it is best to start with a small amount and a short trial on a small area of skin.
How to apply face oil?
It is best to apply 1–3 drops of oil to slightly damp skin. It can be used on its own, after a moisturizing serum, or as the last step of evening skincare.
Most common ways of use:
- 1–2 drops on the face after toner or hydrosol,
- a few drops mixed with cream,
- locally on dry areas,
- for facial massage,
- on the neck and décolletage,
- on cuticles, hands, or dry areas on the body.
There is no need to apply a large amount. With oils, more does not always mean better — an excess can leave a greasy layer or burden the skin.
How to store face oils?
Oils are best stored in a cool, dry, and shaded place, away from light and heat sources. After use, the bottle must be tightly closed.
Unrefined and cold-pressed oils should be handled with particular care. If the oil has changed its scent, color, or consistency, it is not worth using it on the face. For products with a shorter shelf life, storing them in the refrigerator can be a good solution if the manufacturer allows it.
Most common mistakes when using face oils
- Applying too large an amount: Usually, 1–3 drops are enough.
- Using oil instead of a full moisturizing routine: Oil does not replace water-based ingredients, so it works best when applied to slightly damp skin or after a serum.
- Choosing an oil that is too heavy for combination skin: For skin that burdens easily, it is better to start with a very small amount or consider lighter emollients, such as jojoba or squalane.
- Ignoring scent and color: Hemp, tamanu, or rosehip seed oils may have a distinctive scent or color. This is natural, but it may not suit everyone.
- Confusing skincare oil with essential oil: Essential oil is not the same as face oil and should not be used like a classic skincare oil.
FAQ — most common questions about face oils
Which face oil is the best?
In our ranking, we rated Ministerstwo Dobrego Mydła Raspberry Seed Oil the highest because it combines good raw material quality, excellent transparency, convenient packaging, and practical use in facial care.
Does face oil clog pores?
It can, but it does not have to. A lot depends on the type of oil, the amount, the skin type, and the method of use. For skin that burdens easily, it is best to start with light products and a very small amount.
Can oil be used daily?
Yes, if the skin tolerates it well. It is best to start a few times a week and observe the skin's reaction.
Does oil replace cream?
Not always. Oil acts mainly as an emollient, meaning it helps soften the skin and reduce the feeling of dryness. For dehydrated skin, it is better to apply it after a toner, serum, or moisturizing cream.
How much oil to apply to the face?
Usually, 1–3 drops are enough. An excess can leave a greasy layer and burden the skin.
When to apply face oil?
Most often in the evening, as the last step of skincare. You can also add a drop to cream if the skin needs a more nourishing finish.
Is face oil suitable for use under makeup?
Not all. Lighter products, applied in a very small amount and well absorbed before makeup, work best.
How does face oil differ from makeup remover oil?
Face oil stays on the skin, while makeup remover oil is a cleansing product and usually contains emulsifiers. These are two different categories of cosmetics.
Can essential oil be used like face oil?
No. Essential oil is a concentrated fragrance substance, not a classic skincare oil. It should not be used on the face like a plant oil.
Are jojoba and squalane also face oils?
They are often searched for and used in a similar way, but they are not classic plant oils. Jojoba is a liquid wax, and squalane is a light lipid emollient. Therefore, we described them outside the main ranking table.
How to store face oil?
Best stored in a cool, dry, and shaded place, away from light and heat. Some oils may need to be stored in the refrigerator after opening, if recommended by the manufacturer.
